Want to fly around the pole and defy gravity? Here’s 6 simple, easy to follow steps how:
1. Get your butt into the studio
Sometimes the hardest step is actually stepping your foot in the door. Once you’re there, its easy! You will have teachers and other students there to motivate you and plenty of equipment ready for you to use. So put on your activewear guys, you won’t regret it!
2. Bring grip
In case you hadn’t already heard, grip aid is liquid gold for pole dancers. Dry Hands, Mighty Grip, Tite Grip, iTac – you name it, we’ve got you covered! If you’re feeling a bit sweaty this summer and just can’t get a grip (pun intended), this could be your saviour!
3. Stretch
There are so many benefits from regular stretching! Stretching properly prior to and after class helps to prevent injury and can even make getting into your tricks easier. Not all of us are working towards the elusive spatchcock, but even the less painful moves can become more beautiful with increased flexibility.
Ask your teacher or pop into a stretch class if you’re unsure what to do.
4. Consistent Practice and Dedication
Mastering pole dancing requires time and consistent practice. There is always room to improve and over time you will develop your own unique style, combos and routines. PhysiPole has dedicated practice time available for you at the studio and if you’re after a little bit more support you can book a private session with your teacher to really nail those tricks! Remember: every pro was once a beginner and consistency is the key to mastering pole!
5. Train your dorky side
Ahh the dreaded ‘bad’ side. I can feel you cringing already! But here’s the good news, it doesn’t have to stay that way! Practicing your dorky side is really important for even muscle development, flexibility and your development as a pole dancer. When you reach higher levels and learn more difficult moves, you will thank yourself for practicing both sides!
6. Have fun!
The best part about pole and aerials is how much fun it can be! If you get to the studio and you’re having an off day, I can guarantee you will feel at least a little better when you leave. Think of PhysiPole like your family; we will always be there to support you, motivate you and hold your butt when you need it. Remember, you don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great!
