Guess who’s joining the PhysiPole family?

In case you missed the big announcement, PhysiPole Studios Yarraville is opening in April!

Heralding a further expansion into Metropolitan Melbourne, Yarraville will be Australia’s 13th PhysiPole. It will be fitted out with 45mm stainless steel poles, two rooms, a full reception, retail store and of course, a star roof.

Sydney pole star Michelle Shimmy and Vortex champion Natty Stephens are even coming down to perform at the grand opening on Sunday, April 8. Definitely a date to put in your diary. The studio will be fully opened for term 3, with four-week courses and workshops starting up half way through term 2.

It’s great news for the West, offering a chance for residents living in surrounding suburbs like Williamstown, Footscray, Seddon and beyond to discover and fall in love with the world of pole fitness and join our growing community.

It also marks a first in PhysiPole history. The Yarraville space will be owned and managed by Werribee studio owner Danielle Leach, who is now the first franchisee ever to have two studios under their belt.

“I definitely see them as being sister studios,” Danielle said.

Focusing on pole and casual classes to begin with, Danielle will consider bringing in aerials as demand grows. For everyone asking if there’s going to be hoop, stay tuned.

The decision to open her second studio came down to the Werribee Physifam rapid growth over the past two years. To give you an idea, the studio opened with 26 students in January 2016, and by January this year there were 193.

Rather than turn students away, Danielle, her partner Sam and PhysiPole founder Kristy Sellars started thinking outside the box.

“We didn’t necessarily want to move the Werribee studio because it’s in such a good location, but we also wanted to try and reach more of the Western suburbs and broaden our community,” Danielle said.

They say you have to kiss a few frogs before finding your prince, and after eight months of draining secret real estate searching, they found the perfect property at 110 Somerville Rd, Yarraville.

“It was an easy space for us to move into. Some of the other properties we looked at we’d have to like build walls, make adjustments or simply make do, whereas this is going to be better than making do,” Danielle said.
“I’m really excited about how it’s going to look, because Sam, Kristy and I all have visions, but it’s just going to be interesting to see whose vision comes out where and see how it all comes together.”

Danielle credits the success of Werribee to the “genuine” community feel her students and staff have created both inside the studio and on social media. She plans to model the Yarraville vibe on that same relaxed and welcoming feel.

Kristy live-streamed the announcement from the Werribee studio’s second birthday party on Saturday night. She said while the last eight months had been “stressful to say the least”, the overwhelming response made it all worthwhile.

“My heart was pounding seconds before we announced,” Kristy said.

“But I couldn’t have anticipated the reaction from the room! Everyone was so excited and so loud. I couldn’t have hoped for a better response.

“This studio is going to be incredible.”

For Kristy it was a proud moment in many ways. Not only does it signify the growth of a brand she created, but also that of her former Ballarat student.

“This is truly a very proud time for me, Danielle has come such a long way and grown into such an incredible business woman,” she said.

“She is passionate about our brand and 100 per cent dedicated to her students.

“Opening Yarraville means welcoming more PhysiPolers into our growing community and I’m very humbled to say that we receive franchise enquiries on average once a week.

“I think the next two years are really going to be an exciting time for growth and expansion across Australia and possibly internationally.”

As for the grand opening on April 8, there will be guest performances from Ms Shimmy and Kristy herself, workshops, one on ones, free mini-classes, market stalls and more.

“I won’t give too much away but this Grand Opening event will rival the Oscars,” Kristy laughed.

“Make sure you don’t miss it.”
